The progression of luggage in men’s style and fashion has been booming in the past few years. Now more than ever, all men have wallets and the hustle of today’s young adults has lead some to require even more. It’s not only becoming a trend, it is becoming a popular alternative for its functionality and utilization for work life and social life. The new convenience with this is that designers and distributors are developing styles that can easily compliment any look for any guy. While men rarely need to accessorize, the right luggage can help boost any man’s style or give him a new look he can use for special occasions.
The world has become too complicated a place to get by with just the two front pockets on your jeans, fellas. And even the jeans are becoming smaller and tighter so there is even less space to stow away valuables and personables. Luggage is the only inevitable alternative unless you have very little to do in your days or decide to dawdle away in loose and baggy carpenter pants. I hope that’s not your future.
I am a briefcase guy, personally. They make so many different styles that its easy to find ones that look and work great. I like a bag that has a handle that I can hold. Almost like a boy clutch! Something that’s not too big, not too heavy or bulky, but something with the right color, fabrication and size. Many have the alternative to have a strap to sling over your shoulder and those looks are pretty versatile and appropriate. I love a good tote or back pack to have for traveling. Many men are acquiring things such as travel laptops, tablet computers, books, vacation items, endless possessions that can find room in a good tote.
More masculine guys tend to prefer the gym or duffle bag. I don’t personally prefer the teardrop bag with the straps, it doesn’t look good on me and I don’t look good in it. But that’s not the case for some guys at all and I see them out shopping, in clubs, in restaurants and just about everywhere else. If I were to wear a gym bag, I would go for one with handles and a clean look and shape. Men’s slingbacks are a good alternative if you’re on vacation and need something to hold your phone, camera, maps, gifts, all that extra stuff!
While style is dependent solely on an individual and fashion is subjective, I hope we can all agree that there are heavy limitations to what can pass or fail. Since luggage is still an accessory and some men (mostly straight ones) often have strong opinions in how much is too much or not enough. I’ll first say that fanny packs are only allowed when one is intentionally trying to be gaudy and suck the air out of the room, but then again its mostly only dick-curious hipsters, insecure fat girls, and club loving queens that often sport the ass pouch. I also disagree with the use of messenger bags. They look like hippy lady bags most of the time, and there is still no right or decent looking way to wear a lumpy frump of canvas.
Luggage is no longer just for moving or going to work. There are many different ways to incorporate them in anyone’s style for a variety of use..
