I am definitely a Fall/Winter person. I live in the south and I wilt in the dead of summer (which lasts forever for us). I enjoy getting colder weather because it grants me the opportunity to not only have some control of my temperature by layering, but also because I just look better. If you’re still reading this post, then maybe you have a similar seasonal situation…
What I don’t like seeing – young men who continue to dress in baggy clothes thinking it is somehow trendy or culturally appreciated. Fit and cut make all the difference and it is easy to spot a guy who is really looking good and those who are just looking silly. Designers have more than adequately supplied a variety of coats and jackets for all guys, regardless of age or size, to assemble their own style.
Sweaters are a personal favorite of mine on a light chilly day. Designers make them in all types of fabrics, styles, cuts and sizes. They’ve become trendy for some niche cultures and popular brands as a versatile look to dress up or down. I have an average body size and I really like the button up sweaters, while guys with more slender body frames look great in a pullover that has a collar.
There are always great jackets and coats to choose from and all brands do it differently. It is difficult to get by with just one for how dynamic the temperature fluctuates in coastal Atlantic regions, especially living in regions close to the water.
Average size guys (broader shoulders, 32-36 inch waist 5’10, >180lbs) have a good rate of success finding good fits and sizes in most options of outerwear. Guys who are slender or maybe taller have the luxury of wearing very trendy styles, especially mid-thigh length pea coats (WHICH ARE MY FAVORITE).
